Well, I'm 26, and what I can tell you is this. The difference between 21 and 18 is HUGE, and so is the difference between 24 and 21, and it keeps going like that as ppl slowly figure out exactly who they are and what they think about things instead of just running around being overly defensive due to a less well developed identity.
This is one reason why teenagers are often so overreactive and extreme about everything, they lack some perspective. In my experience, the difference between a 26 year old and an 18 year old is often MUCH bigger than a 60 year old and a 52 year old, "only 8 years" is almost HALF of your entire life, not necessarily as insignificant as you might like to think.
This is not to imply anything about you BTW, it's a just an observation from my own life, and several of my friends.
Then again...we're all wierdo's.
