Goooooood morningggggg Amiga heaven
« on: June 21, 2004, 01:56:29 AM »
Hiya peeps,

My name is Mike and I have not long back hit the nostalga trail and got myself an amiga 1200.

They say memories are a fond past best remembered and not revisited and in many cases they could be right but I think the guy that said it never owned an Amiga.

I have owned one on more than one occaision as being "old" I flitted back and forth between amiga's and PC's during their lifetime.

I must admit to a motive for joining what looks like the ideal place for my quest and that is to find a game in its full state that basically owned a large chunk of my life lol.

If anyone has or could help me find this item I would be most grateful and I hope im not commiting some forum gaff by making my request in my "hi im Mike" speech.

Oh yes the game....I am looking for a full version of what I believe was a shareware release called Battleforce. My friend got it many years ago when he was in the air force and it was the rage on the base and when he let me have it I was totally hooked and I have looked under many a rock but have not yet managed to come up with a full version. The handicap in my search was the official release of a title much the same around the same time but nowhere near as good so if anyone out there would like to make this old amiga user a happy soul please let me know :)

Ok plea over a tadge more about me.....im from the UK and am way to close to 40 to be to happy....but my computers keep me sane. I have 2 Pc's 2 Amiga 1200's and for some reason best known to him upstairs I even got myself a 800XL.....I know damn silly but memories can really seem a lot sharper than the images from old machines :)

Regards,

Mike.

1) Welcome back to our world.
2) I can't help personally help with the game, but I'm sure some here can.
3) Glad to see someone who was actually born before the death of Commodore joining the site.  :-)

Welcome fellow "close to 40'er".

@SilentAce/Mike

A good place to start catching up with info on amiga's history is at Amiga University. ;-)

I've seen a cd compilation(DVD) where your game 'BattleForce' is part of those collection. Check it here at Emulators Unlimited. I'm just not sure if it's a full version. Ask the webmasters here if they do. Note: It's a DVD disk format. You'll need a DVD drive to access it BTW.

I hope this would help you out.
Good day to all Amigans!

Thanks all,

My mate has poked his head in the door this morning and after a weekend (geeze im useless I have looked many times) say he has possilby come up with the final version. Apparently they changed the name of it to Mechforce (no not the recent RTS thing...I tried that and boy did it suck) so hopefully he will bring in the emulator setup and I will be able to see.

I feel like a kid waiting on Santa.....and I hope this is one time the game is as good as the memory....I know one thing for sure I dont have to worry about poor graphics as they were non-existant lol.....it was all about the gameplay.

Also thanks for the links I will have great fun chasing them up and delving through all their stuff....who knows what other forgotten treasures lay out there :)

Mike.
