These Important Years

'These Important Years'
(Hüsker Dü)

Well, you get up every morning and you see it's still the same
All the floors and all the walls and all the rest remains.
Nothing changes fast enough, the hurry, worry days
It makes you want to give it up and drift into a haze.

Revelations seems to be another way to make the days go faster anyways.

We're all exchanging pleasantries no matter how we feel
And no one knows the difference 'cause it all seems so unreal.
You'd better grab a hold of something simple but it's true
If you don't stop to smell the roses now they might end up on you.

Expectations only mean you really think you know what's coming next, and you don't.

Yearbooks with their autographs from friends you might have had
These are your important years you'd better make them last.
Falling in and out of love just like... These are your important years, your life.

Once you've seen the light, you finally realize it might end up all right.
It might end up all right now.

Aww Punkie, I'm so sorry to hear that.  I recently lost my cat, Leonard who I absolutely loved to bits too, so I know how losing a pet feels.

"Eclipse"

All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All you feel.
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All you save.
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy,
beg, borrow or steal.
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say.
All that you eat
And everyone you meet
All that you slight
And everyone you fight.
All that is now
All that is gone
All that's to come
and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

Sorry dude - I know how that feels. Our old family dog, nothing special (to anybody but us), a brindle mongerel passed away at the ripe old age of 17 a few years back. I was about 5 or 6 when we got him and doted on him.

Even though I knew he was getting really old, I no longer lived at home (was at Uni at the time) and didnt see him as much, I was really gutted.

Within a few months, the other dog (actually my brothers) got ill and ultimately had to be put to sleep. My folks were a bit hard up that particular time and I had to pay for the final vet bill. Signing it felt like signing a death warrant for an old friend. It was awful :-(

I'm sorry to hear that too Carlos.  I once had a cat when I was young who was given to me by my brother and when the time came I had to take him to the vet.  He'd been a good companion and I wasn't about to desert him in his final minutes.

I have to say though it was much worse when my cat Leonard who was run down four miles from home.  I had a phone call one evening from someone saying "have you lost a grey cat?" and I hate to think of him being run down feeling lost and confused.

It's incredible how much influence our pets have in our lives.

Hoya!

I DO agree. No matter what some people think, a pet HAS a personality. When they are gone, someone is missing...

Respect.
