As I consider which way to go, here is something else that I am considering. I came across a Amiga 2000 that a college was getting rid of for next to nothing. It has a Great Valley Products board in it which I am trying to understand the full potential of. It is labeled A-2000-030/Ram 16 Rev 4.
Apparently it adds a 68030 with math co-processor, seems to have built in 4 meg on the board itself, with a 4 meg simm and two empty slots. Adds internal and external SCSI.
Is this what they talk about (a discontinued product) at...
http://www.gvp-m.com/A2k030.html If not, what is it? If this thing has the potential to have 16 meg of ram, would this be better than a Amiga 3000 16 mhz with 16 meg of ram?
The one thing that makes me want to go the route of the Amiga 3000 is the ability to use a VGA monitor, but I noticed another great valley product... a video card.
http://www.gvp-m.com/egs_spectrum.html Is the EGS-Spectrum worth going with? Or are there cheaper VGA solutions out there?
This Amiga 2000 also came with a Video Toaster.. not sure if it is working. As best I could tell without removing it is probably one of the earliest revisions.
The other board removed was from Faroudja Laboratories. Y/C Seperator BD ASSY # 21104-01 Rev A which seems to also be known as the "Y/C Plus"
Ah here we go... YCP -100 E3 20576 looks like it might be mentioned at...
http://www.ycplus.com/support.html Anyway, yeh, I am new to a lot of this, but I trying to gain the pull appreciation for what I have here, which computer to build with, and ways to grow in the future.
Hey, for as long as we have a Amiga group here in Dallas, I plan on having fun with this. So any input about what I've mentioned here will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
