Mui3.8 install problem
« on: June 14, 2004, 05:52:42 PM »
Hi all,

Can you folks help me out here??

Just downloaded latest version of Winuae for the first time. Installed it on my PeeCee and installed Wb3.1 on it.

Now, I downloaded mui3.8 but when I try to install it I always get an error: COPYLIB can't open file " " in line 299.

Any ideas?

Hallo,
I think that that problem is MUI/UAE....in my opinion the MUI can't be used with UAE.

Wouldn't that be a little bit strange that Mui wouldn't work on Winuae???

I mean, almost every game works!  :-?

There must be people overhere who use it!

It looks like it's missing one of the files.  Did you extract the archive correctly (ie. with full path)?

To narrow down the problem try installing in Expert mode.  This should make you confirm every file copy.  Then see which one breaks.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I allready downloaded it from several websites to make sure it wasn't a bad archive.

When I install in expert mode and check the logfile the last action is that he copies mui, mui.info, psi and psi.info

MUI 3.8 works just fine under WinUAE. I received the same error under OS3.9 and ended up removing the "installer433" file from the MUI archive and using the installer the comes with 3.9.

Well, at the moment i'm using wb3.1. Don't got my 3.5 with me at the moment. Tried to remove te installer433 and replaced it with the installer of wb3.1 but no succes. Probably too old.

The archive looks to be intact, compared it with a list on the Inet.

I really don't have a clue! I guess I don't have to make an assign for the installer?

when I get my emulation working (with OS3.9), I just copied most of the wb files from a backup I made from my real amiga. as near as I can tell MUI seems to work fine.

Well, don't have my 1200 here at the moment. Still moving(bought a house!) my stuff.

I remember that it worked fine under wb3.1 on my reel 1200. Even after the upgrade to 3.5.

The problem is that the file named " " (a single space) cannot be written to windows filesystems, if you use a hardfile with uae it should work. Also some versions of xadmaster renamed the file on extraction, but if you use lha to extract the archive it works fine. Or you could edit the installer script...

why don't you find out what is on line 299 in the install file.
if it's one file, copy it manually.

(CED lets me see the line numbers)
