Hi,

I've taken up the idea to put my A1200 into a desktop case for neatness and don't want it in a tower.

It will fit but the apollo accelerator card is about 2cm too wide and I need to cut a bit of my steel case to get it to fit perfectly.

How can I cut the steel? I've tried using a HSS blade and an electric saw but it wont go through it lol.

Anybody know any companies in the UK that do a steel cutting service (cheaply) or any tools I can use to cut it?

I can fit the A1200 in the case no problems but with the accelerator card it just doesn't fir  :pissed:

Thanks,

Nick

Try Dremel or Proxxon modeler tools. I've cut steel plate with those, if you're careful you can make clean cut.

@nick

     Look in an electronic supply catalog in the tools section, see if there is something called a "nibbler" tool.  Looks kinda like a pair of pliers, but each time you squeeze the handles, it "nibbles" a tine bit of metal.  Makes straight cuts or curved, really useful little tool.  Best regards...Art

Have you tried the old fashioned way of drilling lots of holes, and filing it ?
On schedule, and suing

A good pair of tin snipps should do the trick, I've gut a good bit of steel with tin snipps before.

Or a junior hacksaw, infact that'd probably be better.
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!

I used a dremel but I went through a lot of blades, amd make sure to wear goggles because bits of hot metal flying into your eyes hurts a lot.

Thanks guys I'll be going to town first thing on Monday to go to Maplins (UK electronics shop) and buy something that I can use to cut the case.

I also need to buy a new soldering iron because I can't seem to find my old one  :-(
