Ok so from my last posts i was going to format a hard drive using the amiga emulator its now all done
with workbench 3 installed on it getting cable tonight to test it in my REAL amiga what i want to no is:-

Can i get any software like a web browser which i can install in the emulator so i can browser the net in the amiga??

The emulator (winuae08.27?) just has to have the bedsocket option ticked on, to use the slave OS`s  internet gateway...

ok i downloaded the IBROSWER software

but how do i get it on the amiga??
(i have no connection via serial or cd rom)

also i have a mobile PCMCIA CDROM DRIVE from tohsiba if i plug it in to the amiga's slot it powers up is it possable to get drivers for this so i can use it on the amiga??

AFAIK The only CDRom drive that would work through PCMCIA would be a SCSI one using a Squirrel SCSI interface.  The Tosh one will be 32bit, A1200's socket is 16 bit, and there's no drivers for anything else.  You can, however, use an old 3Com 10MB/s PCMCIA network card (cheap on ebay! 3C589 IIRC).

If you're using UAE just make the directory that you've saved it to into a mouted directory in UAE and copy it from there.

 Use CrossDos on the real Amiga, and format a 720Kb DD floppy, then copy the IBrowse stuff to it.
 If it won`t fit in one go, you`ll have to use one of the many "split and join" type programs on Aminet and transfer it in smaller chunks.

How do you expect to be able to browse the net if you have no connection to the net ?

If you use WinUAE to create you HDD setup, you should install *everything* there, so that after you put the HDD into your Amiga, you don't need to bother with serial connections or CrossDOS or whatever, but can use the ethernet connection (which I assume you are going to install).

yes i am going to use a network card i have one in my laptop will that work??
(its made be micro network)
i guess if my CD rom does not work it might not but i though id ask ne way

i ordered my cable from amigadeals on the net and got 10% discount with my first order so might have a look and see what i can find

i am boarded with my pc so i want to play with my amiga

Download the drivers from http://uk.aminet.net/aminetbin/find?pcmcia+network
then check the readmes for supported cards. Buy one of those.

a file that ends in .info is an Amiga icon, if thats all you have then you don't have all of Workbench!  When you have a complete set of Workbench floppies (or under UAE a set of ADF files, which are floppy 'image' files) one of them will be an 'install' disk.  You start the Amiga with the main Workbench disk in, then put in the Install disk and use the install program on it (it's all really easy if you already have the harddisk formatted!).

Installing a workbench thats newer than 3.1 needs a CD, and is a little more involved! (plus your real Amiga needs add-ons to use them properly).

As for the PCMCIA CD drive you have, you should be able to use it on the Amiga if has been designed for Amiga (obviously). SCSI isn't the only option through the PCMCIA port. Back in the old days I had my burner connected to an AlfaData PCMCIA controller, and it used ide drives. Drivers were included on the CacheCDFS disk. Worked like a charm for me.

As for the ethernet card, take a look at the cnet.device on Aminet. It has a guide on how to intall the cards supported by cnet.device. In the end it's real easy, as it's only a matter of copying a file to devs:Networks. As for networking cards, you can see one that work with the A600/1200 on www.danhoej.net/users/allan/amigahw.html .

ok thanks will have a look at the site basically my neightbour gave me an a1200 she said it was cluttering up her room. it was just "BOG STANDARD" amiga but now its got a hard drive in it

i had no disks with it so i had to use WINUAE to format a hard disk for it
