AmigaOne Question
« on: June 11, 2004, 07:57:55 PM »
I was wondering if you think there are going to come any new versions of the AmigaOne Board in the near future(1-2 years) cause if so it would be better to wait for it than to spend 800 euro or so on the old XE.

also any ideas when(if?) the AmigaOne Mini-Itx will be out?

I haven't heard of any plans to release a new version of the AmigaOne.  I would guess 12 months after the release of OS4 that Eyetech would be wanting to perpetuate the market with a new version motherboard, but given the current lack of decent motherboard chipsets for PPC, I think there'll only be a CPU speed increase plus extra motherboard features, rather than important things like decent DDR support.

AFAIK the AmigaOne mini-ITX is in the prototype stage isn't it?  Bear in mind that'll be effectively a severely cut-down XE.

I've also heard that there are tentative plans for a MicroATX AmigaOne. That seems to be VERY far off though.

Does anyone realise that XE was actually a brand of Atari computer in the 80s?  :-o
