Yes, it's amazing how devoted birds are to their young. Fledgling blackbirds seem to be especially prone to getting lost and will squawk all day and into the night to attract their parents (who squawk back even louder).
I happened to find a youngster who'd ventured into my conservatory one evening. By the time I found it, it was dark, but that hadn't stopped the parent from its searching. I could hear its calls in the darkness.
I carried the little bugger into the garden and released in on the lawn. It squawked, and the air was suddenly filled with that of its parents - almost deafening. I guess they stay somewhere nearby while the young'n' regathers its strength for another day.
Makes yer feel good, eh?
