Okay, it has been a while since I have been busy on any Amiga. I am one of those people that come back to the Amiga after a while on fast AMD´s (still hate Intel´s) ...
How do I reset an A1200 ??? Thought it was AmigaR+AmigaL+CTRL ?? They keyboard works, I can change the startup sequence, but can not reset. Is there a hardware problem ??? Do I have to install a reset button ??? I have installed a FastATA aka Powerflyer IDE controller that has an option for a reset button ...

Yes, it is CTRL + LAmiga +RAmiga.............if that doesnt work, your keyboard may be damaged. BUT there is a command that you can eecute from CLI (or ToolsDaemon if you have) called RESET. I forgot where I got it........maybe Aminet. I just type "RESET" and my amiga reboots. or you can put it on an Icon like I have.
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Is your A1200 still living in its original desktop case or has it been moved into a tower case?

Some keyboard adaptors (neccessary for towered A1200s) do not support keyboard reset.

Did you check if CTRL and the Amiga keys work properly?

Boot into Workbench, make sure that Workbench is active (click once on the Workbench backdrop) and hit +. If your right Amiga key is working, a window should pop up, asking you to enter a (DOS) command.

If your right Amiga key does not work, select "Execute Command" from the menu, this will have the same effect.

Enter "newcli" (without the quotes of course) into that window and hit . Now you're at the console. If CTRL is working, + should have a different effect than just . IIRC, + should have the same effect as . If + just prints "m", your CTRL key is broken.

Now close the console window and move the mouse over some icon. Hit + -> this simulates a click with the left mouse button. If the icon does not change its status, your left Amiga key (or your left Alt key) is broken.

Bingo, it´s the right Amiga key that refuses to work. The left Amiga key works, if I hold it and touch the cursur keys then the pointer starts to move !!! And if I do éxecute command´ and then ´newcli´ and use then the ctrl key + j that it acts like a return.

Thanks Christoph !! My problem isn´t solved yet but at least I now know what the problem is  :-)
