« on: May 24, 2004, 06:40:29 AM »
OK I found an amiga 2000 video toaster version 2 for sale local to me what differences did it have to the regular 2000 and is the version 2 a good one?
BIG IRON (Or \\"heavy metal [Cambridge]) Large, expensive,ultra-fast computers. Used generally of number crunching supercomputers such as Crays, but can include more conventional big commercial IBMish mainframes.

I don`t think it is about an A2000, but about a card called the Video Toaster in the A2000 version. Maybe an A2000 with a Video Toaster card.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

The main difference it that it doesn't support the full-color wipes like the A4000 Toaster, which requires the AGA chipset.

The Video Toaster 4000 does NOT require the AGA chipset.  I have one installed in my Amiga 2500 computer and it works great.  It works really well with my GVP EGS 28/24 Spectrum video card, which goes beyond AGA.
My favorite TV shows:  Star Trek Voyager, Forever Knight, Stargate SG1, Married with Children, As Time Goes By, Mr. Bean, Smallville, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Xena

oops, I worded that poorly. What I meant was that the 4000 Toaster required the AGA chipset to do the full-color wipes instead of the solid-color wipes like the origial toaster. Does the spectrum card let you get around that?

All but the rev. 6 A2k boards have minor video noise issues from what I remember Dave Haynie saying.

-=edit=- thats motherboard, not toaster card.
