Buster-11
« on: May 21, 2004, 09:47:11 PM »
I have a few extra bucks and I'd like to upgrade
some of the chips in my A3k.
All chips are origonal stock chips now but
I'd like to do the Buster, Ramsey and SCSI chip
with the DMAC.
I've found a place in Spain (AmigaSuperBit) that
says they have the Buster 11.
Anyone know where I can get the chips here in the
US at a reasonable price??
And what is a reasonable price ?? (ballpark)

You will have a very hard time locating a DMAC 4. The other chips are much easier to find. It should also be noted that you shouldn't install Ramsey 7 without DMAC 4 (or vice versa) as they must be used in pair.

I have all of them available for sale (Buster 11, DMAC 4, WD SCSI 8, and Ramsey 7). All are tested and guaranteed to work. Only the DMAC 4 is used, and the rest have only been used once for test purposes, so they more or less NOS (new old stock). Make me an offer I can't refuse. ;-)

Good luck finding a latest rev 4 DMAC chip!!

Probably the rarest chip of all Amiga Chips.

PS:
    If you find a source for them send me a PM so I can get my hands on one!!!

They are used in pairs and were programmed with instructions which tell a:

* DMAC 2 to expect a Ramsey 4 and vice-versa
* DMAC 4 to expect a Ramsey 7 and vice-versa

At least this is what C= advertised, and what the word "on the street" is. I've never tried to combine either type/revision in order to see the effects.

@vpcs

Are all Buster-11 chips SMD type? Can You use them in PLCC sockets?  I was just wondering.  I have one of my poor A4K's that is suffering from Buster Nineitis, and !@#$%^ :furious: chip is a SMD chip on the freaking board, unlike it's sister that has a pretty Buster-11 in a PLCC socket.

Excuse my ignorance to the world of custom chips.  I really haven't had much chance to dip into the world of technology due to the fact I have a greedy, soul sucking job that takes up most of my time, and doesn't offer anything back in the way of advancement.  After a week away from it due to a medical leave, I realize I have to concentrate on my personal technological advancement, all things Amiga, or and  QUIT THE JOB  :idea:
