G-Mail?

Hey, guys.
I was interested in signing up for one of Google's gmail accounts cos they offer huge storage space- but I hear of controversy surrounding the service.
Can anybody share the details?

if you go on the www.Opera.com forums and do a search for gmail, you'll see all the info you need to.

personally, i like the idea and there really isn't anything nefarious about robots scanning email and placing "ads" off to the right that seem related.

I have always considered email to be public. just like these boards. don't say anything you are ashamed to say face to face.

and if you need to send secure info, try the old fashion methods.

right now, my issue is that it can't use Opera because the developers have to add support for certain codes. when that (may be) done, then I'll consider getting an Gmail account.

you could try lycros, as they offer 1 gig service too....

(hum, there a bug in the google engine that allowed some users 1 terabyte of space ...! unfortunatly closed now...)

It's by invitation only. You have to find someone who's a member and have them recommend you. Check out the google newsgroup. Maybe someone there will get you in. I think the google newsgroup in question is linked to from the help portion of the google website, but I'm not sure.

It's still in beta. The invitation bit is for beta testers. It's supposed to gonna be a free service once it's finished.

What's a "poxy"? That some kinda England slang?

i don`t know about Reindeer , it sounds a bit dangerous...

But the `poxy` refers to the Pox, which is commonly known as syphilis  (native to the Americas?)...a common form of belittlement and delusional-derision used by the UK...

Anyway there is www.spymac.com they have 1GB mail too.

It will be intresting to see how long these mailservices lasts.
