A600 major boot delay.
« on: May 17, 2004, 07:24:04 PM »
Hi

Can someone please help me.
My A600 takes about 20mins to power up.

I switch it on and theres power to the lights. But the screen stay's black.

The Caps lock light stays lit even when I keep pressing it.
If left for about 20 mins it will power up ok and everythings fine after that.

Please does anybody have any idea what the problem could be and how I could fix it.

Thanks

Hi

Looks like a kind of temperature problem. At first you should open the case and press every chip into its socket, that may help.

Well, that will only be possible with the kickstart chip, as all the others are soldered onto the pcb. :-)

Hi

Thanks for posting.

I have tried pressing everything inside, but to no avail.

some of the chips are warm, but I think thats normal.

Any other ideas?

Uuh thats bad, then maybe this is the result of a bad soldering point, or your power supply may have a damage, can you test another one ?

Hi

No the problem started before I put a Hard Drive in it.

Also it wouldn't accept a 2.5 HDD, so I bought a 2.5 to 3.5 converter and the HDD will only work if connected the wrong way round.

Cheers.

Hi

There is one currently sold in german ebay http://www.ebay.de but the seller will only send within germany. So if you live here or know one that could buy it for you, this may be your chance...
