Simple list of cables
« on: May 15, 2004, 02:50:34 AM »
It might be better to list my vast cable inventory here instead of directing people to the list on a website (which is http://www.geocities.com/cablepics/index.html, by the way).

So, here's the list.

X1........DB8 M/M
X3........DB8 M/F
X8........DB8M-DIN8M
X4........DB9 M/F
876........DB9F - MINIDIN8M
X10........DB9F-DB25M
X5, C1....DB23F - DIN6M
C2..........DB23F-DB9F
S1, X7....DB23F-DB9M
X11........DB23F-DH15F
S2........ DB23F-DH15M
172.......DB25 F/F
X13........DB25 M/M
m2........DB25 M/M
m3........DB25 M/F
S3........DB25F-DIN8M
X12........DB25M-DB25M
S5, m1....DB25M-DB23M
187, Z10.......DB25F - 36M Centronics
Z3,9,13.........DB25M - 36M Centronics
Z8,11,12......DB25M - 50M Centronics
Z1,2,4,7......DB37 M/F
S4............DH15 M/M
m4,5,6.......DH15 M/M
m7........DH15 M/F
X2........50M Centronics - SCSI2 MALE
Z5,6......Centronics-50 M/M
173.......MINIDIN8 M/M
X9........E8P-E8P-10

The right column tells what connectors each cable has.

The left column is the code for the cable. The codes are just for keeping track of which cable is which. Multiple codes means the right column is the same, but the length and/or something else important is different.

Use the code to check the cable list on the website for extra descriptive info that would have made this list here all convoluted (length, condition, etc...pictures.). You can even reply here if you want and I'll post the info.  No biggy. :-) PMail is also welcome.

@Wayne

What's the deal with spaces? I pasted in two columns with with spaces making it all purdy but had to switch to periods to at least make some kind of separation of the data because the spaces were truncated to one. Is there some special way to do columated data on AO?

@suspicious folks

I'm not trying to promote a website, just trying to sell these cables. The website has pictures of the cables on it, which is why I made it... so I could have a place to put pictures of stuff I was selling.

On that odd ball "laserwriter" cable.  The LaserWriter is a serial printer, so I don't see why you would need that extra adapter at the end (also, many serial cables don't include pins which aren't commonly used).

You mean that it's not an uncommon thing? I'd never seen a cable like that, so it was strange to me. I figure it wouldn't matter if those pins were there or not if they aren't in use, right, they'd at least help keep the cable seated. :-)

More info on that weird cable. One end has "Laserwriter" written on it, but the other has "IBM" on one face and on the other,"Amiga". The gender changer has "Computer Amiga". Isn't the serial port on an Amiga male? That would explain the gender changer.

I just took the gender changer off and that end's pins are in different places than the pins on the other end. There's 7 instead of 6, too. Weird cable indeed.

I guess I can just chalk it up to being a custom cable for a Laserwriter printer, eh? I might as well keep the gender changer with it, given that all the rest of the stuff is Amiga stuff. :-)

Cool.

Stick the data in between
and
tags, then you have a monospaced font to work with and spaces are preserved:

Code: [Select]

#       Desc             Price
A99     Cable            £  3.99
B99     Another cable    £  8.99

etc...

edit: accidentally hit submit when trying to figure out how to make the code font bigger.
