Bringing an A500 up to par ...
« on: May 12, 2004, 05:52:06 AM »
Seeming as my GVP accelerator is a bit flakey, I was considering setting up something a tad more compact -- like my A500.  But I would like to do a few upgrades first:

The A2000 has a 3.1 ROM and the A500 has a 1.3.  The label mentiones A500 and A2000.  Are the A500 and A2000 ROMs interchangable?  (Ie. I don't want to cripple the A2000 for the sake of the A500.)

I have a DataFlyer RAM and IDE board, but no adapter for the A500.  Is this simply a straight through adapter, sans some pins?  (I have access to a soldering station and can make the critter myself.)

The Amiga 2000 and 500 use the same chips.  Why would you want to use an Amiga 500 when you have an Amiga 2000?!     :-o
My favorite TV shows:  Star Trek Voyager, Forever Knight, Stargate SG1, Married with Children, As Time Goes By, Mr. Bean, Smallville, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Xena
