Workbench 3.0/WHDLoad/installer problem
« on: May 03, 2004, 09:09:35 PM »
Ok, I really have no idea what i'm doing so bear with me.

I recently got a free A1200 with a harddrive, that had WB3.0 installed on it already. I want to install WHDLoad onto it.

When trying to install it, I noticed the file 'installer' was missing from the c folder. I have WinUAE on my pc with Workbench 3.1 so I copied over the installer from that onto the Amiga.

Now, when I run the WHDLoad installer icon, it presents the first window.. I then click Proceed and Install.

THen things go bad. I get an error saying 'HEAVY GUI ERROR - LEAVE PANEL EMPTY OR CRASH...'

I click ok, then another error comes up

'Error while interpreting script!'

Error: Error while creating GUI Elements
Function: Welcome
Line: 79
Char: 4

Is this something to do with an incompatible version of the installer file?

i'm new to all this so i'm clueless.

Try looking on Aminet for installer v.43.3.  Enjoy.  There are millions of interesting things on aminet.

God made apes, but he used a human to do it.
Man fit the plan, apes are here to prove it.
We can walk like a man, talk like a man, do what humans do.
Yes god made apes but a human supplied the glue.

Your problems seem to be caused by an old version of the "Installer" program.

You can get the latest version here. Install this version (and make sure the old version is deleted/replaced afterwards).
