Look, you can moan about it, but you can also enjoy it

it's your choice

it doesn't harm anyway.

And I do not have the slightest problem with it  8-)

I say its time we brought shirts, ties, blazers and corporal punishment back into schools!!!

Without having any experience with them myself, I think school uniforms sound like a good idea.

At least it should put an end to (or negate the "excuse" for) the bullying of kids who dress "differently" or simply have parents who can't afford to constantly keep their kids supplied with the latest fashion gear.

It would probably help improve the overall climate and discipline in schools, what with the clearer border between "school time" and "play time" that the uniform would signify.

Corporal punishment? Nah. But I do think that it's absurd when teachers are charged with assault if they grab an unruly pupil by the arm, or if they defend themselves when they get a fist in the face(!) from a kid that obviously shouldn't be attending a normal school in the first place.

Re. weird fashion: I'm constantly amazed by humanity's ability to always pick the most ugly and ridiculous things to reuse in "retro" fashion. I'm sure there was something that looked good even in the Decade of Ugly, the 1970s, so why choose to reuse something horrid like bell-bottom pants of all things today? And now when the fashion gurus have started reusing the 1980s, puffy hair and huge semi-tinted sunglasses should be things to avoid. But do they listen to me? Nooooo.... ;)

I think this quote applies to this thread...

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary...

Couldn't agree more. Many schools in Victoria now have uniforms, but they are not what I would call a full school uniform, more a pair of school track pants, a school polo top and a school jumper. I kinda like the idea of shirts, ties etc., it teaches young people how to look professional.

In the days of separated families, often so the parent who is not living with the child to phone them in privacy whenever they want, without having to deal with the fruitloop ex. :-)

;-)

Still looking forward to the move? (About a year and a half/two years left till he moves in with you? I forgot how long you had left, but I hope the time flies! :-))

It's fashion, dude!
The problem is that fashion is horrible! It's not just men's  clothes, it's all clothes! Naah! I'll stick to the jeans and a t-shirt...  :-D

You're right. It is fashion. And fashion is crap.

But that's no excuse for men to wear stupid womens clothing.

I predict (I'll even make a bet) that in the future, some fashion nut will invent a fashion for men that is pink dresses, and a whole bunch of brainless air-head dudes will blindly follow.

What I want to know is, for casual clothing, what's wrong with just ordinary Jeans and a T-Shirt? That was a perfectly okay thing to wear back in my days*. :-)

(*And since the 50's for that matter)

Some of my fashion pet peeves.

Baggy jeans with oversize pockets worn pulled down over boxers.

Dark single color hooded sweatshirts. (people who wear these look like they're about to rob a liquor store)

Madonna wannabe outfits (luckilly extinct!)

Goth crap.

Whatever happened to people dressing to look GOOD? I saw these new jeans at wallmart that were prestained with what looked like dirty motor oil! Why the hell would you want your jeans to look like you just got up off of a garage floor??? What's so uncool about a clean pair of Levi's?

Or just for practicality, like me in my cheap casual clothing.

Actually, dressing like my brother* would be better - as much as his clothing sucks.

* Actually, my brother usually wears black pants, instead of blue.

what the fcuk are they doing, I've seen several Gangs of youths dressed like this... They all walk around with their trousers so oversized that they have to hold them up... well I say hold them up, more like hould them just up to their boxers...

These people are idiots, and should be put to death with immediate effect.

when you say Goth, I think you mean that lame punk/metal/goth/grunge fusion that seems to have sprung up. Propper Goths look really good.  Lots of Velvet, silk, satin, lace, leather, latex, PVC... Yeah they look good.
