It would seem so... Home-made, is my guess...

Yeah, those are A500 ports. Definitely looks like a custom setup. I like the switches :-)

It's definitely a custom job. Hard to say what's really in the case though.

The case shows 1.2/1.3 rom switch, but isn't either running on the machine. It also shows a harddisk and considering the width of the case vs. the width of the keyboard, that must be a tight fit inside there. (I'm not saying impossible, but jeez...)

I wonder if someone could get the guy to run something to show the config of the machine.. It'd be interesting to know if that's a 500, or if the book on the A4000 is hinting at something else. :-P
......

Well, it can´t be an A4000, so long as the wires aren´t customly re-positioned to the case... The book is probably a red herring, maybe a previous owner found it interesting? :)

By the looks of the ports in the back it seems likely to be an A500.

But one of the mouse/game ports is raised above the other...my A500 has them side by side. Hovewer my A1200 has one of these ports on a lead and not directly on the MB. Maybe some revisions of A500 had the joystick/mouse port on a lead and not on the MB?

-EDIT-

Checked picture on ebay.de again, and the mouse/game ports are in fact side by side. So it is an A500, it would seem.

Yeah, that's an A500, for sure.  But very nicely done!  The switches on the front and such are really cool.  Looks like someone customized one of those A1500 expansion chassis.

Cool item.  Wish it were in the US.

Gosh. I looked at some of the high-res pictures, and it doesn't look homemade to me. Just check out the scrennprinting on the black front-panel and the cut-outs on the ports at the back! The guy who made this sure had a little factory handy...it has to be some sort of mass-produced case. Probably only sold in Germany?

Well, I originally thought it was a Checkmate A1500 case customized.  But looking at the pictures in the BBOAH, maybe not.  It's a mystery, for sure.  I don't know if the screenprinting is real or if it was made with stick-on letters.  Either way, though, it all looks very nice.  Someone spent a LOT of time on it, back in the day!

Yeah... but that's expensive.  And tough to explain to the fiancee'.  I can't just quietly sneak it into my collection and then magically pull it from the closet a couple weeks later.  ;-)

It believe it's Comptec Arrow 1500.  It was a conversion for the A500.  Micro R&D sold them in the states.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Yeah... that's right!  I remember seeing these.  I just didn't realize that the Comptec A1500 and the Checkmate A1500 are different products.  Which explains why the Checkmate didn't look like I remembered it.  (I was thinking of the Comptec!)  haha!

Ah! Mystery solved! But the case isn't listed on amiga-hardware.com. Maybe I should drop them an e-mail and tell them to look at the auction?

"CompTec Arrow"

Sounds like a custom kit, really nice case.

I have never seen anything like that in all my years with the Amiga here in the states (since about 1987). I certainly would have bought one for myself. :-)

I like the switches too, what a nice idea.
