Glad to see you finally got your A1 Coder.  I hope it serves you well
and gives you many hours of happy coding and general fiddling and
tweaking.

Hopefully I will have my A1 soon, ordered it back in march aswell but
switched for G4 option.

Coder hasn't recieved an A1!
he recieved what might soon contain the A (os4) in A1, therefore establishing it an A1.

what he has right now is a ppc box of linux....

blaze one for the nation!

@ Coder

That is way cool.  I too am glad for you.  I am jealous as I wait for my Amigaone.

"Off course. I will keep coming with postings about my findings."

As you have the time keep us update on the how to, as I am not a user of Linux, so, I will be watching :-)

I am happy for you. Hope it will work allright (with your chosen memory modules and stuff like that). I am looking forward to see your first post here on amiga.org from that A1 (in linux (and of course even more from OS4)) and I hope that you are able to put together some kind of a review and post it here. Try to make it as unbiased as possible and include your personal reflections and feelings from different stages (opening the package, putting the HW togehter, turning the power on and installing Linux, bootin linux and using it, and so on) ...

I just feel a little bit sorry that you can not use it as an Amiga at the moment. But that will hopefully change in the near future.

Personally, I will soon be home to my Pegasos With MorphOS, hehe ...  ;-) :-D

BTW, how much memory did you order? I got 512 MB, and GOD was that an overkill in an Amiga envireonment!!! ;-) I had been away from Amiga for a while and was kind of used to the wintel boxes standard when I placed that order.

Well, at least I have a nearly unlimited RAM: drive! :-D  :-D
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

I'd like a double-G4 but there isn't any reason aG3 wont compete nicely with my demands (mainly to set up mp3s of my own music+video swipes/titling)

Octamed (together with even some slight hardware back) is still extremely powerful by all standards.

Processor power is of course nice. But everyone doesn't need a rendering-farm-kind-of-super-computer, and you (as a normal user) would actually be surprized by how far you will get with a G3 @ 600 MHz in a PPC native Amiga envireonment. :-)

Hi,

Well it has happend! At the beginning of this afternoon my A1 arrived at my home. I am still at work so I am dying here at work. But tonight, YEAH!

I'm sure you'll have something interesting to say when you head back to work tomorrow.

I can't wait for my G4 to get here...  In February or March, I guess.  I'm not really in a huge hurry for it though - at least until OS4.0 is ready.

I got to play around with OS4.0 briefly at the Ottawa Amiga Show, and I am really looking forward to seeing it at 800mhz.

Either way, I have to admit I'm somewhat jealous.

So where are all the reviews?

The mods here were wondering why there are x thouasand signed up users but only a few of them active. I've been haunting these parts for awhile (since last august) and have been patiently waiting for a good, solid, in depth review. I havn't seen any yet.

There has to be at least 1 A1 and 1 Peg sitting in someones house being used.

If you don't want to write a review up, send it to me! I'll do it.

Hi,

Friday morning, back at work. That sucks. Anyway, the A1 is in a fine shape. But I got some troubles booting the Installer CD. First indication was a badly burned cd so I re-burned it again. But still the same prob. So it is something else. Now I am ruling out several things that can cause the prob. Tonight I wil go on with it since I ran out of time early this morning.

The SE (G3) with 128 MB Memory, 40 GB Maxtor HD, ATI RADEON 7000.

It's really great to work with it. Now I only need to get it to boot cd's. :-)
