The sad thing is that card id from my A3000 I sold complete to him for $800. If I had the time I could have got so much more for the stuff split up. Well at least he is getting all his money back out of it.

it is clearly insane...they have passed the price for a new unit now, and I think you can still a new one, if you don't mind waiting 2-3 months for it to show up. huh. A week ago I saw a new AT4000T case, also, brand new case with only PSU, go for 199€... so crazy, i don't have words... :-o

I completely agree, it's nuts.

An example of something else that killed the Amiga originally was over-inflated pricing on the part of Commodore.

I guess people never learn. You can't even buy used Amiga hardware at a fair price after all this time.

The good news (I think) is that the fact that someone can charge that much for something used like this is an indication of the dedication of Amiga users. Unfortunately, it also takes advantage of Amiga users at the same time. :-(

Heh, yes that's my auction.
I just hope that the last bidder is serious as I notice no feedback in the profile. Anyways, I probably shouldn't worry about that person as I suspect as Morley mentioned more bids will surely occur within the closing minutes.

Hey dude, it's an auction. Nobodys forced to buy until they bid. They have brought the price up themselves, I watched this auction, and IMHO the starting price was fair and cheap.

I had looked at the auction quickly, I thought the $650 was the starting bid.

Though, in my defense, the Amiga, and associated products have always been overpriced! ;-) (hey, I am an Amiga user, I need to salvage something from my original post to make me look right) :-)

They have brought the price up themselves, I watched this auction, and IMHO the starting price was fair and cheap.

Similarly, about a month ago I sold an SX32 Pro on eBay UK for £410.00 ($735.00), but the starting price was only £19.99 ($36.00)... it's these crazy bidders that inflate the prices!

(Although having said that, I've seen plenty of Amiga auctions where the starting price is very high and not far off the vastly inflated final price)

As someone has said previously, it indicates that a huge demand clearly exists for Amiga hardware.

remember that the high bidder here is a '0' feedback guy and they are notorious for being stupid and backing out of auctions after they win them.  Not to sound like 'joe capitalist' but eBay is about as close as you can get to market pricing for stuff, albeit with a bit of an edge to educated buyers/sellers over novices - the latter sometimes bid up a bit too much since they haven't taken the time to educate themselves about availability, and tend to think 'this is my last chance to buy x' - I know I used to...

Having said that Power Computing sell an Iten (cant remember what the hell it was now) for £19.95 brand new.
It went for almost £30.00 a couple fo weeks ago.

I agree, I buy from ebay only when I am sure that I cannot get something somewhere else. As a collector of "classic" Amiga hardware, ebay is an unfortunate necessity.

I have found that prices for most things that are still available from other sources (OS3.9 CD, X-Surf II cards, etc) are basically the same as retail, in fact, after someone charges an outrageous amount for shipping on an item, it ends up being quite a bit more.

I've sold tons of stuff on E-bay and try to be fair, but as everyone has stated, the price is driven by the bidders, not the sellers.....

Ok, with the exceptions of those jerks who want to bleed people dry by over charging shipping, that's just rude!!!!!!  If you want a certain amount, you put it in the bid, ya don't over charge the shipping....
