Hi

ok, it's not cheap, but if you search all parts in eBay and add the prices of these parts, you will get very close to this price...
I nevertheless doesn't think he will sell it, the "power-users" left in the Amiga-scene have a fast/good equiped Amiga and are just looking for single parts (the cream-caps for their systems :-))

You don't have to look far for the reason behind the steep price. They're hoping to fund the purchase of an AmigaOne.

I disagree with you. I think that is cheap, very cheap. Yes, many people chose to give away their Amiga. Amiga buyers today are spoiled with low prices. I would not sold that Amiga for £ 700 even if I had no use for it.

I could have paid something like £400-500 for it, but £700 is pretty steep. That said, it's a damn cool setup.

Now, for extortion, you should check out the auctions at qxl.no (yes, Norway). Spotted some new ones today:

A1200 w/printer:
http://my.qxl.no/accdb/viewItem.asp?IDI=11493284

CD32
http://my.qxl.no/accdb/viewItem.asp?IDI=11495048

Both at 1500NOK (£130) buy it now price (though bidding starts lower on the CD32, it's still more than I'd pay for one)...

No pics? For a valuable auction? Steer well clear.

Well its a bit on the high side for some, but you never know. I sold my A3000 with much of the same in it for only $800 and I wish I would have waited out for more, but I got my Pegasos II with the money so I am happy.

yeah

tbh i would NEVER spend that much money on that, or even an amiga1...

i'd just go to the backs of small computer companies, get the basics from there (tape drives, cd roms, raid controllers, cases, psu's) and then get the expensive stuff for £700, not for that stuff  :-?  :-?  :-?

Seems a little steep...but not much. He might get close to that if he parted out and sold individually.

I sold my fully loaded CSPPC/CVPPC/memory etc. for over $800....

That would have bought someone an A1 motherboard or a loaded Peg2 system but the demand for the older kit is still out there.

Still waiting on my Peg2 G4 though..counting down the days!

The fact tha both OS4 and MorphOS are slated to support that hardware isn't exactly a Bad Thing(tm). It may not be as fast as an A1 or Pegasos, but there's still something to be said for backward compatibility.
I sold my Amiga for a small fortune, but a part of my soul went with it.

If I could've afforded to keep my CSPPC and buy another machine, I would've but now I have a family, house and all it just wasn't going to happen.

Have fun, :-D
