Yes, it should still work, but default to PAL !!!

Hehe actually I didn't clarify myself good enough;-)

*IF* there is a memory expansion in the belly slot, and *IF* there 1Meg chip ram hack was properly done, then it would defualt to PAL.

*IF* there is no memory expansion in the belly slot *OR* the 1Meg chip ram hack was not properly done it will still start up NTSC(from my experience).

Hi Jim!!
Maybe they phsyically damaged the Agnes or the socket in the process. Does the A500 have a memory expansion in the belly slot? If not, from my experience, then even with this pin lifted it should still work and should still default to NTSC. My experience is limited to only rev 5.A(iirc).
Ok, so even with this pin lifted it should work...but what about the pin lifted in the socket?? I have one missing contact in the socket as well..

Well...i have a revision 5 as well...

I'd start off trying another Agnes.

You mean i could try any Agnes from any of my other A500´s? Or it has to be the exact same model?

Do you have an A501 in place?
No, no A501 in place at this moment. I got this one without a A501. I have 2 of them in my other A500´s. Your advice is to try that also?

What do you have in Argentina ? PAL or NTSC ?
I would try to replace the CIA 8520. There should be two of them on the board, don't know which of them is the CIA-A and which is the CIA-B, but you've said you have more Amigas, so replace both of them and test which one is defect.
Maybe the error is a missing memory expansion and the A500 is reworked to 1MB chip and the Agnus is missing the second 512kB memory ?

Noster

Is it possible to exchange CIA-A with a CIA-B or you mean that i should try other CIA-A from some of my other machines in the CIA-A possition in my new machine?
Well...we have here PAL...but i would say that 90% of the amigas that were imported here were originally NTSC, and were hacked in some ways to be PAL or to be binorm (i mean be pal-ntsc compatible, you just switch that pressing mouse button during bootup).
I have 7 A500, all with different kind of hacks or stuff.
Maybe the error as you pointed was a missing memory expansion. I could try that, but...since i also have a missing pin on the socket...that seems like a nos so easy task to do for a hobbyst like me  :-D
Anyway guys, thanks a lot for all info and directions you gave me.
Its a pity. I got a beatiful A500 but cant make it to work.
Anyway, i have learn a lot about this. I will be doing some more research on this subject when i get home (that is, in 6 more days, since we are having holidays here.)
By the way...HAPPY EASTER to all of you!!!

Hi

I meant you should take two CIAs from one of your working A500 and place them in this board for testing. If the board works with them, you could check out which of the two replaced CIAs is defect.
I don't really think the A500 mobo is destroyed, I think there is a chance that it is patched to 1MB chip-RAM and you should replace the CIAs, use the Agnus with the broken pin, insert a A501 memory expansion and try to run...

It wouldn't hurt to try it. AFAIK PAL won't work on a system with only 512K. Maybe you'll get lucky and that will be all it is:-)

Well guys...after my vacation...im back to business...news here:
- i exchanged chips as you guys suggested....put from a working A500 in my "damaged" mobo..nothing...
Then i put the Agnes from the damaged mobo in my other A500...working!!!
I tried CIA chips from damaged mobo in other A500...nothing...so my guess is: i have more than 1 chip broken and/or damaged mobo is REALLY damaged..
Anyway...case is brand new, i got a workin psu and a "new" keyboard...so after all nothing is wasted.
Just wanted you to know how things ended.
Once again thank you guys a lot for all info/help/tips

Kind Regards
