OS4 Installation Problems
« on: April 01, 2004, 10:00:23 AM »
Hi.

I received my OS4 CD this morning, but I'm having problems with the installation process.

The installer starts up, but after about 30 seconds or so I get a fail message "Error 010404 cannot find correct Locale"

Anyone else had this problem? Since it's a clean install, could there be a setting I've set incorrectly in the BIOS?
Or could the disk be corrupt?

-john :-?

Error 010404 cannot find correct Locale -

RTFM for gods sake, look here it is:

Error #010404 "cannot find correct Locale %L"
When the user experiences this error the minor code reported will indicate the exact fault and how to correct it:
0x01 - Leyline imbalance, use your divining rod and find a position where the AmigaOne is aligned perfectly with Stonehenge.
0x02 - Bad case design, install your A1 in another case, preferably a green one.
0x03 - Its dark down here, move the A1 into the light.
0x04 - Too close to competitor, move the A1 into its own room, away from the interloping box.

If none of these correct the problem, contact LeatherAndHeels.com for a full refund.
Hate figure.

Hi JD,

I had the same problem. Try to turn on "FastMemFirst" before you try to install. It's a problem with the chip memory of the AmigaOne.

Hope this helps!

Strange, I have installed OS4 on my AmigaOne without any problem. :-P

Are you sure that you installed the latest Uboot upgrade?

Why do you bother with this ancient OS?

Get yourself a copy of OS5.4, besides most jaw-dropping eye-candy it will provide better support for your G5 (all 8G of RAM will appear on your workbench bar).
Anyway is the only way

For a hoax of a more serious matter, check this site
out: Micheal's Computer

Tom's hardware also has an article about this guy:
Tom's Hardware article

Oh, BTW: I have hacked my machine to use 16MB of chipram!
It is even faster than fastram.  I can now run Megaball v8

I have the same problem like you on my Pegasos.

The only solution I found was trashing my OS4 CD and installing the last MOS1.5.42 It rocks :-)

Yeah Dude. Sure its out.

You didnt recieved the Os4 CD by DHL this morning, with the One, CSPPC, BPPC and Pegasos 1 version?

Framiga said that he had installed his in a Z80 system, but I think its not from the official Os4 CD but the Contribs section.(I have heard it must be a DUAL Z80 system anyway)

Check your mailbox guy...

Oh, to get the packet you must be "Amiga Lifetime member" and have already recieved the famous T-shirt (in order to confirm your address) :roflmao:
