People like this is why the Amiga community is sometimes looked down upon and not taken seriously... Hopefully some one will put an end to these shipping scams

$299 for shipping. Thats just plain ridiculous and there's no guarantee the signature is real. Sounds more like a complete scam.

That's Merlancia Industries. They first listed it for $399 opening bid on eBay. When that didn't sell they listed it with a $299 opening bid.. I guess since it didn't sell that time either is the reason they are attempting this, hoping someone will bid without noticing the shipping costs.

Off the top of my head I'd bet that qualifies as fraud by eBay's definitions, though you'd have to read their TOS to be sure.

Let me clearify this I've been selling on ebay for some time. Every once in a while you get beat on an auction where something sells for far less then expected.. But I still keep my shipping prices honest.. If you can't sell it for what you want then give up don't Jack up the shipping cost to rip off the consumer.. I understand the World is not perfect but crap like $299.99 shipping is too far over the line..

Can we get a clarification from Haynie on the signature? From the picture it looks photoshopped because the signature doesn't seem to change direction on that angle on the right side. Could be an illusion, though. If Haynie says it's fake, then Merlancia's ebay account could probably be revoked, eh?

The signature itself is probably real. Dave Haynie really did work for Merlancia at one time. Dave also somewhat watches community boards and these auctions have been going for weeks now. He's probably seen it and would likely have spoken up if it was faked.

Just my guess of course. I think what's really at issue here is the shipping costs. :-)

Merlancia is such a joke. When I am at home in Phoenix I've gone to his shop a few times. He charges unreal prices for walk in customers as well. He doent know half of what he has, and he will sell you broken items and tell you they worked before he sold it to you if you do get something and take it back. I would never buy anything from him EVER.

Look again Ebay has stepped in and fixed the problemm. No more 299.00 shipping
