version 2.2 of the hURL plugin for Hollywood. hURL is
the ultimate multi-protocol data transfer plugin for Hollywood which allows Hollywood scripts to transfer data using
all kinds of different network protocols including full SSL support.
Version 2.2 is a minor update for the Amiga platforms but
a major update for Linux, macOS and Windows. On those platforms hURL now comes in two different flavours: A version that uses host operating system's native SSL stack and
a version that uses a statically linked version of OpenSSL which can be
useful on older operating systems (e.g. Windows 7 or macOS x64) where the system's native SSL stack is no longer able to do secure handshaking with servers. Also, the hURL version that uses macOS' native SSL stack doesn't support all protocols because of a limitation in libssh2. For example, the hURL version using macOS' native SSL stack doesn't support the
SSH, SFTP and SCP protocols. When using the hURL version that comes with a statically linked OpenSSL, however,
these protocols will work fine on macOS as well.
hURL is
now available for free download from
the official Hollywood portal. Thanks to Hollywood's cross-platform plugin system versions for AmigaOS3 (m68k), AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, Linux (ppc, arm, arm64, x86, x64), macOS (ppc, x64, arm64), Windows (x86, x64), Android (arm, arm64), and iOS (arm, arm64) are provided.
