Lost Memory In A1000

Hmmmmm, just booted up my old A1000, everything looks normal, but it seems to have lost the memory expansion that plugs in the front of the machine.  Anyone have any ideas?  Can't remember which chip or chips control ram.  Any help is appreciated.  Best regards...Art

You mean you still have the RAM expander in there, and it's just not seeing it? If the device is actually missing for real, I have some that I could part with for some kind of offer.

How long has it been since you booted her up?? I've had to do a few power ups to get everything recognized on my 1000 when it's been a long time since the last use.

How close are you to Muskegon?

     Thanks for the tip.  It's been a couple of years since I've booted her up, I'll try your suggestion.  By the way, I'm in West Branch up East of Houghton Lake.  There are quite a few Amigans in Michigan on Amiga.org.  Best regards...Art

I don't know if you have already solved this problem, but, just in case someone else runs into it as well.

I have owned a few 1000's, there is a few things that can solve this problem:

1. Pop the front cover off, pull the memory expansion off and reseat it again. This is a famous "sagging" problem that A1000's have, anyone who has ever hung anything off of the expansion slot on the side knows what I mean.

2. If your A1000 was stored in a place that was even remotely damp, you might need to do some cleaning. Perform step 1, but, before you reseat the memory expansion, use a pencil eraser to remove grime and "black" staining on the gold contacts.
