Problems Using Amiga 1200 with a VGA Switch

Instead of going with an indivision device for now I decided to use the plain old Video connector.

For this I bought the VGA Converter from Axel81l as unbuffered version (disappointed that no screws are included).

I tested a bit and I found out that the stars basically have to be aligned right:

If I use the Amiga 1200 with a "cheap cable" then I get nothing.

If I use an expensive cable directly with the Retrotink4k I get a proper signal.

If I use a setup with an Extron SW VGA ARS Switch (its a powered switch but set to non-auto), it will not work. (Doesn't matter if the Port in question is currently active or not, the Amiga 1200 will not boot)

If I use a setup using a cheap passive VGA Switch, connect this to the Extron SW VGA ARS Switch, then switch it to a channel with no connection, the Amiga 1200 will boot. Now I can switch it to the right channel (going to the Extron VGA Switch) it will work. But it must be set to a different vga channel when the amiga is booting. So this basically equals to pluggin in the VGA connection only after boot.

This now results in a couple of questions:
1. Will this cause any damage? Like actively switching the VGA connection. Possibly sending some "bad" stuff to the Amiga it cant handle via booting.
2. Why does this happen in the first place? I guess one of the channel is used for communication and the Amiga 1200 only does something if it either gets an "ok" or nothing at all, but wont boot on a "err..dont know"?
3. Is there any way to avoid that? I do want to use that without putting another switch into that switch or something crazy like that. My setup is already wild as it is. Would a different adapter help? E.g. a buffered one?

I bought a HD15 VGA / HD15 VGA buffer from axel81 recently that is precisely designed to plug into the RGB adapter you have. It relies on 5v power being supplied on pin 9 of the Unbuffered RGB adapter. He modified his RGB adapters to draw 5v from pin 23 of the Amiga RGB port to pin 9 of the VGA out in his latest revision 2, so if you bought yours recently this would be it. Pin 9 is not usually used from online sources. The Amiga H-sync pin and V-sync pin also supply 3v and .9v respectively.

There is no guarantee that a particular product is going to have the same pinout. There are a few port pins required to be so but the others it's open. If you have power going somewhere it shouldn't the Amiga isn't going to work. Another thing is if the VGA switches are allowing the monitor to draw power where it shouldn't; your PSU may not be able to supply enough amps to get the system and HDD up and running.

Thank you! Could you link the ebay "auction" or name the speicifc type? As he has various ones, seemingly also keeping old auctions of the same items just worded differently.
I specifically didn't want to get the "line remover" one as it's not just expensive but apparently also introduces additional blur (and so far, with my unbuffered one I also don't really see any line to be removed)

The unit I have is his VLR (vertical line remover) sold as a separate item to upgrade the unbuffered adapter. As you've said, it's not what you're looking for.
