Surfing the internet with an Amiga in 2026
« on: March 04, 2026, 01:18:05 PM »
Hello everyone,

My name is David and this is my first message on the forum, so I hope you’ll excuse the slightly unusual nature of my post.

I recently started an internship at Simple CRM (https://simple-crm.ai), a company that develops customer relationship management software. When I began the internship, I expected to work mainly on topics like AI and sales processes. However, on my very first day something unexpected caught my attention.

On the CEO’s desk I noticed a strange device. Curious, I asked what it was. Brice, the CEO, explained that it was a Nokia Communicator. That moment turned into a small discovery for me: I realized that even before I was born, there were pocket-sized microcomputers with impressive capabilities. From there, he started showing me other machines such as Psion devices, Pocket PCs, Sharp organizers, Commodore 64, and more.

As he talked about them, I could see how nostalgic he became. He told me he would love to use these machines again in everyday life. The problem, of course, is that modern life revolves around the internet. That’s when he had an idea: create a service that would allow people to browse the web again using these legendary devices.

A few days later he showed me a project he had put online:
https://telex.wasmer.app/vintage.php

It’s a proxy designed for older machines. He also made it free and open source, available here:
https://github.com/bricecornet/TERMINAL-PROXY/

That gave me a slightly crazy idea: what if I used my internship to help improve this project and make it easier for enthusiasts of these classic machines to access the web again?

So here I am, reaching out to this community.

Would some of you be willing to test the proxy, or even install it yourselves since it’s open source?

If you try it, I would love to know:

  • which machine you used
  • which browser
  • whether it works or not
  • and if it doesn’t work, what bug or issue you encountered

The goal is simply to improve the solution for the community.

At the moment I haven’t yet been able to test it on an Amiga. For reference, I’ve already tested it on Nokia Communicator and Psion devices, with the results shown below.

If anyone is interested in contributing further, GitHub contributions are of course very welcome.

Thank you very much for your help and for taking the time to read this.

David
