A1200NG Wireless mouse issues and Amiga keyboard question
« on: December 13, 2025, 12:39:36 PM »
Hi!

Finally I have my A1200NG board and I’m now in the process of setting it up.

I’m using a Logitech wireless mouse and something strange is happening. The mouse works on the main menu without issues. As soon as I enter Amibench the mouse doesn’t work. It’s as if it’s not connected. If I exit Amibench, it starts working again. Haven’t tried installing my workbench, so I can’t say if the behavior is the same.

Also, tried to use an Amiga tank mouse (db9) and it doesn’t work at all. Don’t know if it’s a problem or just a feature (like it can’t use db9 mouses).

I’m also using the original Amiga keyboard. On the initial setup I left the option “105 key generic keyboard” and ticked the option “use alt as amiga key”, since I saw this on a video. Is this configuration correct? Haven’t tested every keys but the keyboard works in general.

Thanks.

Had the same issue on A600GS but it was a cheap noname mouse ... changed the mouse and everything was fine :)

After fiddling around some more with the settings, I found out that I had to use the option to configure controller on the main UI, to let Amibench “know” which port my mouse was using. A bit odd that if the UI knows there’s a mouse being used, doesn’t automatically apply that setting to everything…

Also, about the keyboard situation, when I configured the shortcut key to access the menu it identified my “help” key as “Insert”… that makes me think that maybe I didn’t chose the correct keyboard configuration on the initial setup. As a suggestion, on the keyboard menu there could be an option for “original Amiga keyboard” that maps the Amiga keyboard automatically. Then, we would only need to choose the language layout and it would be ready to go.

It ought to just use the mouse by default unless told not to. Could be something glitched and that default option got unselected but I'm not sure how that would happen.

That option is for Windoze keyboards with a missing second windows key, as your amiga keyboard has both left and right amiga keys it should work fine without it.

After a few more tests, it seems to have been a glitch. It’s working fine now.

I also found a few more glitches on Amibench. Sometimes when it starts the background image has some graphical glitches on the left side of the screen and it doesn’t always mount the usb stick. An Amibench reset usually solves the issue.

True. After some more tests, it doesn’t need that option.

It still seems to me as the Amiga keyboard isn’t mapped correctly. Doesn’t recognize the “\” key, the “help” key is identified as the right “Alt” key and it also doesn’t recognize the “(“ and “)” keys on the numpad (“NumLock” and “ScrollLock”).

I tested the keyboard with Amiga Test Kit.

The user @birko70 reported this issue with OS3.2.3 but it seems a system wide issue.

It’s US layout. Also, the keyboard works perfectly on real Amiga hardware.
