Hi all,
First post and it might be a long(ish) one - sorry in advance!
I've recently retired and one of my first jobs was to sort out my loft where I have hundreds of Amiga, PC and Amstrad games.
I have two Amigas - neither of which had been switched on until recently for maybe 20 years.
The Amiga 1200 powered on first time, connected to a 1084S monitor and booted up the Colonel's Bequest no problem.
After trying a few disks for maybe 10 minutes the 1084S blew (white light and now won't power on).
I'll probably sell that for spares at some point, as I no longer see myself as someone who's going to fix the thing.
So I'm now onto a backup video a solution - I bought a Linkfor SCART to HDMI converter and an Amiga to SCART lead.
This is linked to to an ASUS VP28U monitor. This displays fine on the A1200 and I'll use it to test the games.
Now onto my problem...
I also brought down the Amiga 2000. I've had this from new and I modded it a bit back in the day - it has a 68030 in it from memory, with a nice switch hanging out of the front to change from 68000 to 68030 (I think). It was some kind of boot rom - a long time has passed and my memory is hazy on it.
I connected it up in the same way as I did the 1200. The 2000 powered on fine and I can see the video output on the Linkfor 'change' - it's trying to display something but no discernible image appears.
I've tried the different resolutions that the Linkfor allows - tried changing from PAL to NTSC, switched off and on a few times but can't get it to display anything.
Fan is whirring in the 2000 and the power light is on, but nobody's home.
Does anybody have any idea what the difference could be here between them?
Thanks a lot.
