A600GS starts intermittently
« on: October 19, 2025, 10:28:03 AM »
I have been struggling with this issue for quite some time, and I’m now considering returning the entire device since it seems no help is available. The device does not start and gets stuck on the initial boot screen. Very occasionally it may power on, and when it does, it seems to work. The device has been properly powered off and reset through the menus, but sometimes even these get stuck, for example during a reset.

I have had a long email correspondence with AmigaKit about this, but they have not replied for about a month now. We have tried multiple new SD cards and sufficiently powerful power supplies, but none of that has helped. I received a new disk image from them, which I transferred to different cards, but the device behaves inconsistently—sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

In the last email, they asked if I wanted a new SBC to try, and I said yes, but it has already been a month since that message and I have heard nothing. The device is still under warranty, and I want this matter handled properly. I expect either a return of the device or that you send me a replacement part. If that still doesn’t work, then I will return the device.

First question I would ask.

Does it fail to boot on first boot of every new fresh SD card?

I will also ask about your email.

Not always, but after the first boot it feels like a complete lottery how it starts up.

I nearly got the same issue since some weeks now (before it ran fine) and today I've seem to found the issue ... my WiFi !

I use both a 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi at home and even if it "seems" to connect fine, there seems to be packet loss and the A600GS is getting kinda stuck in the boot process, maybe while trying to set the connection up. So I disabled the WiFi from the main menu and it´s booting fine every time ! Then I setup a hotspot and put the phone next to the A600GS, connected it to the hotspot and it boots fine every time as well !

Don´t know if this applies to you as well but you can at least test it anyway ;)

Okay. I’ll have to try and see if it makes any difference.

Interesting, never seen Wi-Fi issues whilst booting, (as far as I know as not been looking for them) only Wi-Fi I get is dropping connection after 6 or 7 days of constant developing, requiring a reboot. But reboot itself fixes it..  Edge case issues are such fun :-)

I tried a new installation on the SD card. The first boot went all the way through, I updated the firmware, did the setup, and connected to Wi-Fi. I shut the device down through the menu, and it froze there.

After that, about 15 boot attempts froze on the initial loading bar, and in the following attempts, I got a black screen with just the mouse cursor visible.

Now, on the latest attempt, it froze at the point where it asks to press any key to start. I was supposed to try disabling Wi-Fi, but I can’t get that far. I powered it off again, and now it’s freezing once more on the initial loading bar.  >:(

EDIT Now I managed to get it to start — probably on the 20th try. I turned off Wi-Fi, but it didn’t make any difference. It freezes right away on the initial loading screen or a black screen appears with a cursor (which doesn’t move).

It was worth a try  :-\
