How do you get to be an Amiga Developer in 2025?
« on: September 02, 2025, 06:45:32 AM »
Hello!

I've loved the Amiga since 1989 and have lots of gear in my music studio to make my X5040 into my DAW, as well as a modified A600 for sampling via a Megalosound sampler for recording new material.

Also I have pretty much every type of Amiga emulation hardware available including a RPi based laptop because I've always wanted an Amiga laptop. I have a Steamdeck to run Flowerpot for a mobile OS4.1 solution, and I love my Analouge pocket to be a portable Amiga music player and to show people demos, etc to name just a few.

At any rate, I have this cool idea for a card/software package for the X5000. It's to be in conjunction with another developer outside of the Amiga platform, but will use their same development hardware. I'm trying every avenue to accomplish this with A-Eon/Hyperion but don't seem to have any luck so far.

Also I'm keen to be a betatester for the OctaMED V8.1 porting effort to OS4.1 as I'm really super excited to integrate this into my studio setup.

Any advice/help would be extremely appreciated!

Hi!

Not sure what the A-EON/Hyperion issue is you had there, thought you were doing some 3rd-party app ?

Anyways for Amiga Development it is best to use the Docker Images from George Sokianos. I usually use the gcc11 one for AmigaOS4 target.

For 68k stuff I use the gcc cross compiler from Bebbo.

For WarpOS and MorphOS the MorphOS compiler.

Best regards,
Steffen

Maybe the OP also needs to know that the latest SDK is available for download here:
