Decent CD player?
« on: March 25, 2004, 11:35:19 PM »
Hi, all!

I'm looking for a CD playing software with automatic
CDDB support (i.e. if the player doesn't know the CD,
look up the songdata in background) plus AHI option.
The output of the standard Amiga audio output went
more and more scratchy during the last weeks. Seems
to me that the 12 years old mainboard of my A4000 is
slowly going it's way to electronic heaven...

So I want to redirect the output to my Repulse
soundcard. I used to play CDs with OS3.9 Sys/
Utilities/PlayCD, but there is no AHI support.

Any suggestions?

Doesn't the Repulse have a CD-ROM input ? Just connect the audio cable of the CD-ROM drive to this connector. No need for AHI, no need to spend any CPU time for playing audio CDs. Just use the mixer to turn up the CD-ROM volume.

Bye,
Thomas

@Thomas

Yes, the repulse has many inputs. The Repulse in my A4000 has my TV-card, DVD player, AmigaOne, and CD-ROM on its inputs.

You just need a standard CD-Audio cable connection from the back of the CD-Rom to the CD-Rom input on the Repulse, and to make sure that input is not muted or too low in the Repulse mixer.
