I'm attempting to install my Mediator 4000Di 3V with one PCI Voodoo 3000 on my A4000D but I'm getting some strange behaviors.
Before this installation, I tested the PCI Voodoo 3000 with one Prometheus 4000 from Hese and one PPC mounted on a PCI adapter, and all ran well (run Quake PCC).

To install my Mediator 4000 with only the PCI voodoo board, I started with a clean Amiga OS 3.2.2.1
installed the ELBOX sw (MMCD+MM_UP_26)  and updated manually the pci.library (13.15)and the latest voodoo (drivers downloaded from the Elbox web site)
Before running the MedConfig configuration, I opened one shell and tried pciinfo to see if the PCI boards were detected, but no boards were detected

Strange. Does anyone have a clue about what I missed?

Continued to configure and run MedConfig (only the system drivers and the graphic board) and rebooted
after reboot, I opened one shell window and ran pciinfo again, but now I got a ramlib error "Program failed (error #80000004). wait for disk activity to finish"
every time the error shows the system hanged (need to reboot)
Tried ScanPCI tool, and the same error appeared

Have been diagnosing this for some time with the help of Elbox
they even sent me two new CPLD chips but the behaviour remained the same
during our tests, Elbox asked me to delete the Envarc:Mediator/Buster
The result was that pciinfo stopped showing the error but still continued not to detect the PCI boards

Without the Buster file (contains only "11" because I have one Super Buster 11 on my A4000) some information shows (the Mediator board is detected)
But no PCI boards are detected as well

How can I test my Super Buster 11? Is there any method to test this chip?
As I mentioned above, I have been using this A4000D with other configurations without any problems (even with a Prometheus with a PPC)

Any ideas are appreciated :)

The biggest question should be. Is the Voodoo 3 a PC or Mac version?
The mediator will only work with Voodoo Cards with a PC BIOS. Prometheus and I suspect G-Rex boards don’t have a preference.

I have one Radeon card that I purchased at the same time as the Mediator from AmigaStore.eu
I'll replace the PCI boards and try again  :)
fingers crossed

Is the super buster socketed? If so I would suggest surface mounting it. Failing that I would remove, clean, and re-install it.
If your buster is already surface mounted - then I apologize for wasting your time. Either way good luck resolving it. I'll be curious to find out what ends up being the problem.

I don't remember because it has been so long since I messed with anything Amiga but isn't there two versions of the Voodoo cards where one requires 5v and the other 3.3v? Could be the wrong voltage again it's been a while.

Thank you, Jeff,
There is no need to apologize when you are trying to help :)

The super buster is not socketed. It is soldered.

As I mentioned, I have been using this motherboard with different configurations.
lately, I ran Prometheus 4000 v1 from Hese with the Voodoo and one APocalipse PPC

The mediator does not detect any PCI board
With the MedConfig configured the pciinfo gets an ramlib error but if I remove the Envarc:Mediator/Buster file the error doesn't manifest

Is it a memory issue?
I only asked if there is a way to test the Super Buster because he is soldered
do have a spare Super Buster 11, but I wanted to have some hint that he is bad to initiate the replacement
My doubt is mostly because the motherboard has not shown other issues

Installed one Zorro 256Mb memory (to test the Mediator Zorro bus), and together with the motherboard 16Mb Fast and 2Mb chip ran ATK 1.21 for one hour
No errors found

Just for info to the audience. How have you set the jumpers up on the mediator bus card?

Have you tried the Vodoo and Radeon cards in different PCI slots? Mediators can be picky sometimes with this.

Try Swapconfig open. That sets the Zorro ports to be used first when closed.
If using the Radeon, then Winsize also needs to be closed. Open for voodoo. Due to less Video RAM.

Thank you Boing-ball

it seems you helped me find something
I closed Winsize and to my surprise, the A4000D does not boot
removed all boards, but the system remains dead
Opened the Winsize and the A4000D boots

I've been sorting out this installation issue for some months with Elbox
Elbox even sent me two new PLCC chips but without any improvement
Maybe the wrong ones

I need to email Elbox about the discovery.
