The space on the layout of the form factor suggests it could easily be re-engineered for other cases too.

It's just another I/O board for Orange Pi Zero 3... not sure what's so "Next Generation" about this, not like this is first time someone made an I/O board for some Pi to fit A1200 cases.

According to the webpage www.a1200.com/ng, it provides 257 MIPS of performance.

That's the exact same MIPS provided by the A600GS as reported by AmigaKit themselves.

Why call it A1200 and NG if it's no faster than an A600GS ?

Because this time the i/o boards fits into an A1200 case, and with a few more USB devices built in, perhaps too many to fit the "Game System" paradigm... but it's really the exact same system as the A600GS.

My question now is... how can I ignore all future postings about this?
Is there an option to ignore _all_ AmigaKit product related topics on this forum?

You know this how? there are other things planned, as in addons to upgrade it.

Interesting. I guess this is, like the 600GS, software emulation. Why not cooperate with Edu to create a 1200 case compatible version of his Unamiga platform as it’s a more accurate FPGA system?

I’m a bit disappointed personally. Why? I was expecting something like a fully rebuilt A1200 but instead of the expensive now getting rarer customer chips chips. This would be a FPGA type board that will still allow for the current A1200 plug ins to be used such as Accelrator cards etc.. with the ability to still use KS physical ROMs. Where you are free to use the AmigaOS of your choosing.
I sort of get the concept around why this is being released. But unfortunately for me this is not what I would be buying on this occasion.
Still I applaud Amigakit on at least giving the end user a choice. Not everyone is a Sheldon Cooper type but instead a person who might just want to dabble part time in building a computer and just switch on and use it…

While I do understand you, I don't agre with you, since,m as I see it, this is a NextGen product, and custom chips are not really that NG, IMHO..

The new A1200NG can use ROMs.  You add them in the Manage ROMs section and you can boot various OS versions of your choice.  You do not have to be limited to just Amibench.
