Amiga Joystick not working
« on: October 19, 2024, 12:32:31 AM »
Hi,

I'm loving the A600GS and it's allowing me to play a lot of great games from my childhood.  Unfortunately, I'm not having any luck using my Konix Speedking joystick.  I purchased an Immortal Joysticks DB9 to USB adapter and this enables the joystick to work perfectly with my A500 Mini, but it's not working on the A600GS (either using the adapter or plugging directly into the proper joystick ports at the front).

My firmware is up to date, so I'm at a loss as to what the issue is.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.

Go to the controllers menu and press fire multiple times until you hear a loud "klick" then you should be able to use it ... maybe you have to rejoin the controls settings after the "klick" sound :)

Thank you!  I'll give that a try (will let you know if it works or not).

So I tried clicking the fire button a few times and that helped a little - I can now navigate around the menus and select games using my joystick.  Unfortunately, that's as good as it gets.  When I actually try using it in game, nothing happens.  I've tried it on a few games (Zool, Superfrog, James Pond, Mercenary, Diamond Mine, Into the Eagles Nest) with no luck.

It's not really a huge deal, I do have a USB joystick I can use.  It's just the Speedking was always my favourite as it's easier to hold and doesn't make my wonky thumb hurt after a few hours gaming.

In controller prefs:  once you activate the joystick select the correct joystick port by making the square yellow.   This enables the DB9 joystick as the active joystick.  You should select Port 1 for the DB9 joystick as most games use this.  Please read page 2-15 of the manual:  https://www.a600gs.com/A600GS_Manual.pdf

Thank you!!!  This worked a treat.  I guess I should always remember to RTFM?

Thank you for all your hard work with the A600GS - it's a great little machine and it'll keep me going until I win the lottery and can afford a genuine Amiga 1200!
