Joypad related problems
« on: September 24, 2024, 10:29:32 AM »
There's a couple of games I can't play because I don't seem to be getting CD32 pad mode from the controller.

Rogue declan - twinstick CD32 pad mode, even tried changing the profile to CD32 still not getting any button apart from a single fire
Attack of the PETSCII robots - all the buttons are used when you select CD32 pad in the game but the A600GS is just giving me single fire... and even if it wasn't Play/Pause/Start is mapped to the A600GS menu so... I couldn't play the game anyway... maybe move the menu to the Select button which isn't on the CD32 pad and have virtual keyboard as a menu item?

I have tried using CD32 controllers in the 9pin ports and that doesn't work either but at least the Play/Pause button doesn't bring up the menu.

I have been able to use some CD32 Games but most only use the pad as a 2button joystick... I guess I can throw a joypad tester on AmiBench to check what that sees...

I can confirm that only RED and BLUE button are working as intended while trying to play a game with CD32 controls :(

Just saw that is is a known issue at least for non CD32 games : https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=76709.0

Its a know issue with other pads. They are not in the Amiberry database.
Ones that are, will work fine once set.
If using the pad that comes with GS, you will find all buttons work fine.

In regard to real 9pin CD32 pad, its already been reported. Needs extra code to deal with shift register.
As SkulleateR linked to thread. Joypad remapping is coming.

even if it wasn't Play/Pause/Start is mapped to the A600GS menu so... I couldn't play the game anyway...

I reported this and said exactly same thing, remove keyboard and move menu to select.
As a crude way around it, rapidly tap start, it will trigger start button.

So, with something like Gloom, how would I use the GS controller and have the start button work as it would on the CD32?

Wait for Joypad remapping, not possible at the moment AFAIK ;)
