Hmmmm, AGS uses WHDLoad, I'm guessing?
So its the same if booting say adf of these games?
Les try and understand, so AGS loaded screen is correct, as soon as you launch a game, its not?

I have been testing this. This is nothing to do with GS. Its to do with AGS or archives your using.
I just tested WHDBoot lha of beast and I can see as it loads, screen is switching back and fore, as if there is a config file telling it to switch.
Run beast adf, no problem at all. Runs in 4:3 with massive horrible borders left and right.

EDIT:-
From what I can tell, what ever your using to run it, is telling it to run in stretch mode.

but have you ever have a Amiga? you should know that all games must remain like old 4:3 TVs. black bars are necessary.

Considering, I was a TV engineer and owned a few amiga's. Yes I have Amiga's and could not care less about 4:3 personally, games look as good to me in 16:9.
I would love to see the feature we added to PSPUAE, called Auto zoom. Basically, you set it to stretch, it then works out where line starts and ends. Removing ugly borders from all games, like turrican. Full wide screen bliss, :).
However, I have just answered your questions. Its not the GS causing your issue.

Have you tried adf version? as it works 100% perfect in 4:3.
WHDBoot archive, which I'm guessing is the same as yours, forces it to 16:9 and ignores what GS is set to. I could ask for fix to stop anything altering GS Amiberry config.

Please read what I posted, you seem to ignore the important parts of my posts.
What ever your using is FORCING it to stretch. Its overriding GS settings.

What's the 4:3 situation when starting WHDLoad Games (with JST?) on Amibench?

I have no A600GS yet but this is an important aspect for me. IMHO 16:9 strech graphics look absolutely horrible. ;) Good to know that using ADFs bypasses this, but let us be honest - many ADFs are badly cracked games with glitches, graphics corruption or some other flaws which make them crashy or in the worst case make the game un-completeable. The WHDLoad-installed versions do have fixes for glitches in the original game on the other hand. So I prefer the WHDLoad-versions very much.

So I would also vote for a fix that the GS Amiberry config always should be respected.

It cant be fixed simply. As these WHDBoot packs have custom stuff in them. Thats what is forcing aspect to change from what you set.
Situation with WHDLoad is, install WHDLoad in Amibench. We just cant provide it, you have to install yourself or use inbuilt JST.

Ok, if it's simply "install it and use it" like on OS3.2.x itself, I suppose this means I can copy over all the WHDLoad stuff I already have on my A1200 and just use it on the A600GS. Which means I'll get no 16:9, 4:3 problems at all ('cause no WHDBoot archives), so I got no problem at all.  :) Thanks for clarification!

Ah I see, hadn't thought about this yet... And I guess the AROS.rom is mandatory for Amibench, relying on it for its' features, e.g. the ARM graphics.library?

Good to know I could bypass this by using hdf! Do I get the same functionality on the A600GS like on Amiberry to use one hdf for System and another one for a Data partition (with user configured kick)? Or is this more finegrained configuration stuff 'hidden' in the A600GS user interface?

One hdf at moment can be added. So you would need to use a large drive with partitions.
