Bluetooth controllers
« on: August 27, 2024, 01:57:22 PM »
Has anyone had success with bluetooth controllers (joysticks)? I've tried several and the whole things seems to be a bit of a mess.

First up, pairing: I scan for devices and get a LOAD of MAC address appear. When my controller eventually shows up, it usually jumps about in the list as the scan is still going on, making it hard to select. I know another forum topic said the bluetooth list will be filtered in a future update; that might fix this issue.

Second, once it's paired, the controller does not show up in the Controllers section of the A600GS menu so I have no way to assign a controller to a port on the Amiga and have to guess how it's set up once in a game. Sometimes it doesn't appear to be connect at all and doesn't work in-game. I have no way to know whether a controller that thinks it's connected relates to it actually being available to Amiberry.

Third, once I have a controller paired, connected, and actually working in Amiberry, there's no way to configure it. Almost all of the time, it would be good to have the standard buttons mapped to appear as a CD32 pad but this is definitely not the default. I tried playing Cecconoid as an example and can only fire right and down (I think that's red and blue), no other buttons on the controller map to the CD32's yellow/green buttons.

Has anyone had more success than me? I've tried quite a range of controllers (various 8bitdo devices and an XBox Elite controller) but had similar behaviour across them all.

CD32 buttons, is a know issue for standard setups. CD32 iso mode, pad is mapped correctly and works fine.
Obviously, it will only work with our pad properly at moment. As said button mapping option is coming, as is .cue support for CDDA audio.

Any update on when button mapping will become a thing, and will it support other gamepads?
