Problems with HDF & WHD files
« on: August 24, 2024, 03:49:35 PM »
Hope everyone is well.

Enjoying the a600gs and looking forward to upcoming features etc..

Hope someone can offer some help or direction regarding the title. I've seen how easy it is to add a hard drive image for Frontier and play it, however when ever i try with a hdf format file it just goes to the dos prompt. WHD files load and amiberry logo displays ( sometimes red, sometimes blue), the file system sometimes appears but after selecting an slave, it crashes and resets.

I've even tried restoring the system but that doesn't seem to do anything (think that's been mentioned previously).

This may well be user error as I'm coming back to amiga from my original A500.

You should be able to find an ADF of Frontier, I've been playing it fine.

Yeah that's what i have been doing. but the only things i can get working are adf (not all of them) and cd32. whd files or hard drive installs are the next challenge.

i have all the roms from amiga forever imported but still nothing.

If you've imported the ROMs and they are now showing on the ROM list they should work.  I've got just about every ADF working, you might need to select a specific machine like A1200 and it should use the A1200 ROM.  I used the ROMs from the AmigaOS 3.2 disc, I also added a 1.3 ROM for the Amiga 500.

I've not bothered with stuff in other formats.

If our using a standard hdf, it may be better to select A1200 once you import Kickstart 3.1 for A1200. It will then use that instead of AROS.
Also if the WHDBoot archive is setup right, that should work fine wth AROS (A600GS) setting using JST. Games I have tested work fine, with standard AROS and AROS roms.

Well whdload files are working, but a couple of games (bloodnet aga, Darkseed aga) both crash on jst screen with an out of memory error. is there anyway to assign more memory for whdload files.

I have already mentioned this. As there are no options for ram, like when using adf's.
