Internet sharing

I once did this through a null modem cable and miami.

Can sombody tell me step by step or point me to a guide that
can tell me how to either fully network or just share my broadband connection from my pc to my amiga using a null modem or serial cable and genisis.

I am running winxp pro sp1 on the pee cee

Correct.  Any transfer will only go as fast as the slowest link the connection ("a chain is only as strong as its weakest link" rule).  So, you could be on a T3 line, but if you're downloading from a web site that runs on a 56K modem (extreme example), your transfer will only get up to 56K speeds.

For your network question, seach on Google for "Windows XP null modem internet connection sharing" (withou the quotes), or variations of that.

I apreciate that I wont get broadband speed through serial.  Im not a numpty

But I will get faster than dial up, especilally as Ive got
a hypercom in my miggy.

ive tried to look on ggogle, i just aint got the rest of my life to search, can somebody point me in the right direction, i did a few years ago and i need to do it again,
i want to use my ppc miggy for rc5 project, and i mant it connected to net

don't know how much help this will be, since I abandoned windoze awhile ago.

 If memory serves me at all, you may end up having to map or remap the COM port to the Network.

Then conduct the Internet connection sharing procedures.

I did this between my Win2k laptop and an A3000 once or twice.  It should be more or less the same for WinXP.  

I opened Network and Dialup connctions, and added a new connection.  Set it to "Accept incoming connections".  Then
set the port to COM1 or whatever com port you're using.  The only other thing you have to do is set the username to use, which I *think* is what you have to plug into Miami/Genesis for your username.

As long as you have the "allow access to LAN" thing turned on in your TCP/IP properties (next page from the allowed users page) then you should be able to connect and ping the PC's IP address.  In my case I was then able to access my firewall (which is another PC) and get to the internet, but if you're connecting to the PC that has the only internet access, you'll probably have to turn on internet connection sharing or something to get it to act as a gateway.  Then again, it might just work at this point.  :-D

I just remembered that there was some file I had to change on the Win2k box...  it was a file that had a bunch of expect-reply type strings that told Windows how to chat with incoming connections..  Let me know if you have problems and I'll see if I can find it on my laptop.

can you get a network card on your amiga and get a router and share your internet that way i do that with my 3 pc and i hope to get my amiga A2000 on it too
