Change resolutions in Pistorm lite Emu68
« on: July 04, 2024, 08:58:31 PM »
Hi all, been a while. I have recently relocated from California to Portugal. Running Picasso96mode for Emu68
on PiStorm32 lite. But no matter how many times or what color depth I choose, I only get 640x400. Before when I dragged the box to Resolutions every drop would increase my resolution. Can someone please tell me what step
I am missing. As always much appreciated.

If your have no resolution and your adding them . Each one defaults to that size, you have to manually alter and then add colour ones.
I couldnt be bothered, so I only added 1080 and 720, then saved and reset.

Thanks, but you are not explaining how to do that? How do you manually add the resolutions? Each one defaults
to what size?

For me, Picasso have never auto increased the sizes. When you drag box to widnow, it gives a resolution. You click on it and change it from 600 to 1920, then same for 400 to 1080. Then when you drag box to color modes, it create one, you set that up, then do same for next.

Easier thing to do, would be to remove picasso and reinstall, select picasso card as install. Then alter picasso card in monitors and tooltype to point to VideoCore driver.
You will end up with a full resolution setup.

How do you manually add the resolutions?

The whole program works with drag and drop. Once you understood this, it is very easy to use.

Take the box icon (the left most) with the mouse and drop it into the resolutions list on the bottom left. This gives you a new entry and the width and height fields become active so that you can overtype them. Enter the resolution you want to create. Press Enter or Tab in each field so that they are shown in the list.

Once that's done, take the box icon again and drag it into the color format list on the top right. This gives you an entry with 256 colors. Below the list you can adjust frequencies to match your monitor's specs. When you think frequencies are fine, click on use and on test.

When the test is successful, take the entry from the list and drag it onto the copy icon (the second from the right, next to the skull). This will duplicate the mode. Select the copy, change color from 256 to high color and click on use. Now drag the high color entry to the copy icon, change the second copy to true color and click on use again.

Now you've got a new resolution. Repeat all the steps for yet another resolution until you got all desired resolutions in all color modes.

If you don't like an entry, take it with the mouse and drop it over the skull icon in order to delete it.

Yes! That’s it. My problem is I’m a very literal person. You almost have to take me by
the hand. Thanks so much to both of you. Appreciate you taking the time to help.

Well, don't feel too stupid.

IMHO, Picasso96Mode has always been an example of how you should *not* make a user-friendly and intuitive user interface.

The logic is simply so upside-down and inside-out that it's almost impossible to figure it out.

It's like if you had to use a screw to turn a screwdriver.

Best regards,

Niels

Thomas Richter (THor) has brought out P96prefs to replace P96mode. Not sure if this only works on the new version V3+ of Icomps P96 version. But there are a few videos of how to use P96mode on YouTube.

I believe its only ment for newer Icomp versions.
