Anyway, it's sad to see people mess up the terms kbps and kB/s. The difference between bits and bytes are obviously that bytes are noted with capital B, but in the speed tests there is no capital B's. (20000kbps=2500kbps?)

If you look in brakets it says (2000Kb/s) which means kilobits per second as opposed to 2000KB/s which would be kilobytes per second, but on the other hand it gives two values (of which I was going by the second, asuming it was the right one, but that was also labled Kb). But on the other hand, the value in brackets is probably actually the estimated overhead.

But to the point, 20000Kb/s (Kilobits per second, divided by eight to give KiloBytes) is 2500KB/s, which in turn is 2.44MB/s (divide KiloBytes by 1024 to get MegaBytes a second). So, yes, I was right.

Yes, but you also mentioned that you can get 10mbps connections in Sweden cheaply, but that's 10mbit/s, not 10mbyte/s. They have started to (or will soon) offer 100mbit/s to a select few who have ethernet connections in their apartments but the cost is ~€100/month and a maxmimum download of 300Gb per month.

Actually, 1 kb = 1000 bit, not 1024.
That gives:
    20000 kbps     | *1000
=20000000 bps      | /8
= 2500000 Bps      | /1024
=  2441,40625 kBps | /1024
=2,384185791015625 MBps

Try reading my post. I said you can get 10MB connections, not 10Mb. People really need to get their case right, one is eight times smaller or bigger than the other.

I mean that I am sure I have read about being able to get 10MB (100Mb) internet connections in sweeden. Not cheaply, but also not obscenely expensive either.

I guess you could kinda say I have one of those... Our ISP has put a bunch of cable in our building, your computer in one end, and router/switch and so on in the other end, and then fibercable out of the building... Well, at least it´s 100Mb/s MAX, which means you practically never reach those speeds...

But no-one advertises them as "10MB" connections... Everything is measured in Megabits/s... Probably because 100 sounds more than 10...
