Unusual HDD problem
« on: April 09, 2020, 06:40:38 PM »
Hello people,

I decided to try using a SATA drive I have in my 1200 today. Using my Gotek to boot 3.1, prepping and installing Workbench went ok, but when I went to reboot and boot with the HDD I get nothing - insert disk screen.
The system has a FastATA mk4 and my boot floppy has the required files for that and the PFS3 and when I boot into workbench from that I see the HDD perfectly. Reboot, and nothing!

I've not encountered this before, and it seems properly weird. I've tried a couple of different IDE cables already with no change.
Used to be; A1200 Power Tower 060/66 32Mb
Fast ATA Mk3
Mediator - Voodoo3 3k, FastEthernet and Soundblaster

Now; A1200 Power Tower ACA1232
FastATA Mk IV, CF
Mediator - Voodoo 3k, Soundblaster
And a load of issues

I think you will need to put the PFS into the RDB of the SSD. Use the HDToolbox for that with advanced settings for  the filesystem.

Yes, I did that before installing WB... If I go into HDToolBox it reports everything correctly.

version DH0: reports pfs3aio 19.2

But the hardware doesn't see it in early boot!

You did remember to set the device/partition as bootable in HDToolBox?
