Squirrel 16bit scsi controller in pc laptop ???
« on: March 13, 2004, 10:16:42 AM »
I was wondering if my old Squirrel pcmcia controller also works in pc laptops ??? I´ve got a superfast 120 mhz laptop here and would like to hook on my scsi harddiscs or cdrom ...

I suspect there aren't any drivers available, but even if there were the Squirrel probably wouldn't fit in.  Unlike the Amiga, laptop PCMCIA slots take the entire card, and the Squirrel has been designed so the portion of the card that doesn't fit inside the Amiga is wider and rests on the desk (to stop you breaking it, and it probably holds some electronics too).  It's much wider than two PCMCIA cards, so it wouldn't even fit in the top slot on a laptop.

Thanks guys. It´s only a stupid pc laptop but nevertheless I wouldn´t like to damage it. So it seems better to get a real pc pcmcia scsi controller ...

Also, it probably isn't really PCMCIA except that it has the same connector and pinout.. I doubt any PCMCIA handler would recognise it as a card.

Forget SCSI, use USB2 or firewire.
