WHDLoad on A2000 vs. A1200
« on: March 10, 2004, 07:23:29 PM »
I have both an A1200 '060 (2MB/64MB, 3.9) and an A2000 (1MB/8MB, 3.1) that I am running WHDLoad on.  I notice that many more games freeze at start, don't run on the A2000 but work fine on the A1200.  These are ECS games - not AGA.  Why would this be?  There's no mention in docs for requiring anything > a 68000 on these.

Want to use the A2000 for these because the games look better on its 15kHz, 14" 1084S vs. the A1200's 31kHz, 19" CRT - less blocky.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Some installs require a 68010 or higher.  So if you're running on a 68000 this is probably the problem.

From the docs.
Quote
CPU 68000 (68010+ is recommended because some installs require the VBR for the 'quit by a key' feature)

BTW, what games have worked/not?  I can dig out my A600 and try them out.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I was pulling the full game distributions from Back2Roots.  Three I know didn't work are:

Beyond Dark Castle
ArmourGeddon
Beneath A Steel Sky

I saw no mention of CPU requirements in the readme's.

Just a shot in the dark, but make sure you don't have a TCP stack running when you start your games. That's something that'll cause lockups.
I sold my Amiga for a small fortune, but a part of my soul went with it.
