Do you regret ever getting rid of your Amiga?
« on: May 01, 2018, 02:27:48 PM »
Looking back over the years I think back and the biggest regret I have was selling a Cyberstorm 060 PPC the PPC did not work for some reason but the 060 was fine.

I also regret throwing out (yes you read correctly) an Amiga 3000T in 1997. it did not work but knowing what I know now it was likely just a bad 3640 card. "Hit head against brick wall"

What regrets do you have regarding getting rid of Amiga items?
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

the money you get now will be nice but your likely going to want the 4000T back at some point.

Yes... I did.

I regret selling my A1200. I kept my CD32 for years as a music player until the controller wore out.

I picked up an A1200 earlier this, and it was good to be reunited with the little beast. Seeing the way computers and their operating systems have developed over the last 20 years, returning to a model where the computer was working for the user, not as a spyware platform collecting data for an AI company, is rather compelling to me.

There is, I believe, a small niche for easy "honest computing" that a DIY ArchLinux install cannot fill.

Once I have a space dedicated to my A1200 I'm going to setup AKReal I think. I'm a little less interested (but no less impressed) with Vampire boards, although a new standalone machine could be a base platform Amiga for the next decade...

Have fun, no matter which flavor you have, or are dreaming of!

I had at least one of each Amiga:

A1000
A500
A600
A2000
A3000
A3000T
A1200
A4000
A4000T
CDTV
CD32

I do not regret selling them, though if I'd waited a little longer they'd have been worth a bit more...  Having moved 4 or 5 times since selling them I definitely don't regret it, though.
3 Commodore file cabinets, 2 Commodore USB turntables, 1 AmigaWorld beer mug
Alienware M14x i7 laptop running AmigaForever

I have lamented selling my WarpEngine 4040.  I could have used it a few times in recent times.  Otherwise I am trying to trim down what I have.  While I would like to maintain a decent collection for display and trial purposes it is just not practical.

I miss my Cyberstorm PPC. I finally got around to installing a Vampire V2+ 500 in my A2000 though and it just flies! That really helps :D I can't believe how much power they pack in to that little card!

I regret not convincing my parents of the need for an A500 when we got an Atari ST however machines with 1Mb were expensive in 1988 so I guess a 1040STFM was a good choice back then. I don't regret allowing Dad to take that to landfill as it had a damaged mouse port and other than the aesthetics of the case I can't really love GEM or the sound chips in the same way you can love AmigaOS and Paula ;-)

Moral = the Atari ST was disposable but the Amiga definitely shouldn't be!

Never really got rid of anything Amiga or Commodore related actually. They're just slowly decaying in the attic of my parents' house which is of course also kind of regretful.

I sold a minty A1000 in the box with external floppy with box...and I sort of regret it.  Probably could have gotten double the price now.  But honestly would just love to have her back. Had a memory sidecar as well..grrrr..

Oh well.  I have plenty Amiga’s with more on the way so no biggie.

I partly regret to have sold my pimped up A1200 (Mikronik tower, ZII board, BlizzardPPC, some SCSI kit, BVison, network card and delfina sound card). Generally my successor systems (Pegasos and other MorphOS machines) do a fantastic job, but the Deldina was nice and I had a good workflow with it. While MorphOS rather ecxeeds the A1200/AOS3.x setup in almost all things - on sound the A1200 with the Delfina was pretty nice.

I probably most regret selling my CSPPC on eBay a few years back,  it wasn't a great sale either as the buyer messaged a couple of weeks later to complain the card was "dusty" and sometimes crashed his 4000.  He claimed his "friend" fixed them and he wanted to renegotiate the price to 200EUR, so when I refused he returned the card but it was in fact completely dead, I later found out it had been reworked, probably used as a donor card to fix another and was completely unsalvageable.

My other regret was several years ago selling my AmigaOne XE which I was planning on replacing for a newer NG machine running OS 4.2, but as that never materialized I eventually lost interest. I coincidentally enough noticed it for sale again on eBay about a week ago, my hand was hovering over the buy button, but as the seller was looking double the price I decided the money would be better spent on restoring my A4000T which I'm currently working on.

I've let a 2000, multiple 500's, and countless software/accessories go over the years... but it pains me to have let go (3) Amiga 3000's, a DENEB, a Picasso IV, a A1011, and Zeus BBS with printed manual.  I'd say one of the original Supra HD's for the A500 as well - nostalgic as all hell :)

I have an A1200 I need to recap still, and an A500 with GVP HD8+ that I'm about to pull out from storage, but I really want to get another A3000, and an AmigaOne X5000.
