Amiga.org looking for historical postings and announcements

(yes, this is duplicated from the news item, but a lot of people don't actually read the news pages)

In preparation of a new section of the Web site, we're now combing through old SQL backups, old file backups and about anything else we can find about the last few years. Our intention is to open a historical column where we'd post all these old critical announcements in one place for the purposes of researching the history of our community and what we've gone through.

We need your help.

We know that you're all packrats. We know that you have this old stuff squirreled away on your hard drive for a rainy day.

I'm not really talking about "History of the Amiga" type stuff which has been covered in abundance on other sites, but anything you might have sitting dormant on your hard drive which documents the announcements by everyone from Commodore to the Gateway era, all the way through Amiga Inc.

Things like the "Gateway has purchased Amiga" announcement, or the "OS4 will happen in 2001" announcements.

We would appreciate ANY help that you can offer in recreating that which was destroyed by hackers in the old versions of Amiga.org's history.

Any chance you have a backup?  I have backups from very late 2001, but the periods between 99 and 2001 are a complete blank thanks to the people who so thoughtfully destroyed Amiga.org's earlier PHPNuke and Postnuke incarnations..

again, off topic, but to answer it.

Much like the forums here, youth lends to naivety.  In the early days of the site, the idea that anyone would have wanted to destroy all of our hard work seemed silly.  Around Christmas time 2001, the Amiga.org PHP Nuke site was hacked, destroyed, and any data we had was corrupted beyond dependability.  About 8 months later, our Postnuke installation was destroyed by a different group for no purpose other than their own satisfaction.

We lived we learned.  Back to the topic at hand.

O.k. lets just hope someone has a backup of the old coupon-avartar-bet. Probraly the most breathtaking piece of history from the last 5 years  :-P  :-P

Historical announcements by Amiga companies to include the Gateway era, the foreclosure and auction, and the current Amiga Inc period.

There has been a LOT of "when did x say that?!?!" lately. I think we should have a place where all these items are posted on a permanent basis.  The trouble is, I have one SQL backup from 2001, then only from 2003 and later, so I can't piece it all together myself.

This is the first post on ann.lu! :-) It's from 28 Feb 1999, and Jason Compton say:

"VIScorp's not out of business, in case anybody's interested.  They now exist as US Digital Communications."

Ann has been here a long time, and should be a good resource for the "collector". :-)
