Blizzard SCSI

I've been using My A1200 with FastATA, but the fastATA was causing my A1200 to become unstable do the fact that I used risers to lift the FastATA over the Indivision.

I'm back to 4xIDE now, which works well enough but is substantially slower.

Anyway, I have the Blizzard SCSI adapter which up until now I was only using to hold additional RAM. I also have the cable for that adapter as well which ends in a DB25.

I've decided to try and use a SCSI2SD V6 from Amigakit.

Anyone try this device with Blizzard SCSI?

Will I be limited to 4GB with WB3.1?

Where can I get an adapter to go from DB25 to SCSI-2 Narrow 8-bit 50-pin connector?

I definitely can't wait to see how this new version 6 board does with my A1200

Was just about to order the adapter Kirk_m linked too, but prior to that  had I emailed Amigakit sales (after I had placed the order for the SCSI2SD) inquiring if they had the proper adapter for and they indeed do, just I guess I'd overlooked it:

They were able to add that and a DB25 gender changer to my order

I would not suggest trying this combo at on a Blizzard SCSI.

MY Blizzard SCSI module burned up... The worst smell in the world.

I don't have a pic at the moment but I can take one tomorrow after my phone recharges.

Anyway, the red/orange component under bottom left of the scsi chip burned almost completely off. Don't know if it is repairable.

Just the way it went down, I'm fairly certain it was "25-pin Female DSub to 50-way" that caused the problem and probably not the SCSI2SD but who knows.

That is a Zener diode.  Unless I miss my guess it is the limiting diode for the termination power output (TRMPWR).  Something must have shorted it out.  We tested a v6 on my 1230 last year at VCF and it worked pretty well.  I recall the 25-50 adapter we used was a custom unit but my memory on that is sketchy.

I have just seen the following reports of V6 scsi2sd (sync mode):

Blizzard 1260 with scsi kit 9MB/s @ 4% cpu load
A4000T 6MB/s
Cyberstorm MK2 10 MB/s

Looks very good.

Just FYI,

I had a DKB RapidFire SCSI controller that had a blown Zener diode when I obtained it, along with the 2000 it came in.  Acill was able to fix it, even though it had burned one of the pads off.  He also replaced all the SMD caps on it while servicing it.

I have contact him and he has agreed to attempt to fix it.

I just wish I knew what went wrong with this combo.  Acill said I probably installed the cable in the wrong direction but the cable was hand labeled "top" in handwriting other than my own, so I did verify that was correct by looking at various pictures of the Blizzard SCSI module with cable attached.

"9MB/s @ 4% cpu load" does sound pretty good to me...
